On December 13, 2025, Mark Bestland passed away at home. He will be remembered for his independence, quiet kindness, love of adventure, and deep curiosity about the world.
He is reunited now with Amelia Bestland (nee Bereziuk), his beloved late wife, wherever the wind and water may have taken them.
Mark will be missed by his siblings Corliss Rosenberg (Jerry), Faye Bestland, Beverly Bossuyt (John), Raymond Bestland, Myrna Thompson (Murray), and David Bestland (Cindy); sisters-in-law Bev Bestland, Sonia Metzlaff, Joyce Persowich, and Joanne Sigurdson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Besides his wife Amelia, Mark was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Martha Bestland; his brothers, Sinclair Bestland, Milo Bestland, Harlan Bestland (Sharon), and Cordell Bestland; and his nephew Scott Thompson.
In accordance with Mark’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Marks life will be held on January 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Dawson Trails Apartments Common Room, 15 Leveque Street, Winnipeg. Please enter via Paterson Street.

Mark came into our lives through our sister Amelia and we learned to love him as we loved her. He was her soulmate and she brought joy and fun into his quiet life ...and they enjoyed a beautiful 15 years together. We miss him already very much as he was a big part of our family at regular gatherings..always wanting his cup of coffee being a tee-totaller...and sharing his historical knowledge out of the blue.
